A Rustic Iowa Wedding - Cherie & Ethan
It all started at La Poste. That’s where the venue coordinators told Cherie and Ethan about a wedding photographer from Des Moines that might be a good fit for them. Cherie and Ethan knew they wanted their special day at La Poste, an amazing, rustic venue in downtown Perry, Iowa that was formerly an old post office. Now, it’s a beautiful location that I’m honored to photograph in.
From the first time meeting Cherie and Ethan, I knew that I wanted to be a part of their wedding. They described it as something elegant and intimate; filled with only the closest friends and their families. But the real reason I wanted to document their day was because I knew they were meant for each other. I could tell they made a great team and that their lives were filled with so much laughter and fun! It made my day when they called to let me know that they selected me for their wedding.
Their wedding day came and it was absolutely incredible. All of their family came into town and stayed at an Airbnb just outside of Perry. It became the location of the first look, some portraits, and family photos. It was the epitome of a beautiful Iowan scene. Old rustic barns as backdrops and open fields made for beautiful memories. But it was the excitement between Cherie and Ethan that made every image a keeper. As the day unfolded, we made our way to the venue where everything came together.
The ceremony was intimate and beautiful. Their closest family and friends gathered in several rows to witness their “I do’s”. Immediately following the ceremony, we jumped outside to capture a few images around Perry. Cherie and Ethan stayed at Hotel Pattee which provided the scenery with its ivy-walled back alleys and cobblestone pathways. Yet, no matter where we went, Cherie and Ethan laughed and smiled as they enjoyed every moment.
The wedding celebration continued as the night went on and I was able to meet a handful of the people that came to support the two. It was inspiring to meet so many individuals who cared for them and to capture images of the people they loved.
Thanks to everyone for creating this day, to the ladies at La Poste, and most of all, to Cherie and Ethan for trusting me with capturing these moments for decades to come. You two are awesome!
