A Rural Iowa Wedding - Anne & Gaetan
I ran into the salon to get out of the rain the morning of the wedding day with Anne and her bridesmaids wondering if the rain will stop. I knew in that moment that Anne would be a bride who couldn’t help from smiling non-stop. Not even the all-day rain forecast could bring her spirits down.
When I made my way to the hotel where Gaetan and his groomsmen were getting ready, I quickly started to discover how unique this wedding was going to be. Gaetan and his best man, Antonio, are from Cameroon and spoke beautiful French, talking about how they have friends making their way from D.C., New York, and France to celebrate in rural Iowa. it was fascinating.
It was during the First Look that I discovered how much love and intimacy there was between the bride and groom. We processed through the First Look, and Anne and Gaetan’s emotion created the moments I enveloped. The drizzly weather faded away as they embraced one another. Nothing else seemed to matter.
After the ceremony came the celebration and excitement that everyone was eager to join in on. We witnessed the now husband and wife recess from the church with full smiles, many bubbles, and the sun shining. Family and Friends were so happy for Anne and Gaetan, and they were so happy for everyone to take part. The reception led to a celebration with such high energy and excitement. There was an Irish Blessing by many men of the family, as well as a Best Man speech translated from French to English. The night went on as the dance floor was always populated.
It was a beautiful wedding with some of the most caring and interesting friends and family. It’s no wonder Anne & Gaetan were so wonderful to work with when you see who they have in their life. Thanks to everyone who made this day one-of-a-kind.
